How It All Began: Mandalas Art Story
Every artist starts somewhere. Mine began with a few random lines in the corner of a notebook during a boring lecture. Those little doodles quickly became my escape, my focus, and eventually my artistic style.
That’s how black pen art became my favourite medium simple, bold, and expressive. Using a pen like a Pigma Micron and a smooth sketchbook, I could make my lines flow easily. Over time, those doodles grew into mandalas, teaching me patience, balance, and mindfulness.

1. Start with Doodles, Not Designs
Don’t worry about being perfect. Begin with small shapes, swirls, or patterns. Even messy lines are part of learning. Stop overthinking, and your creativity will flow naturally. Many beautiful mandalas for beginners start with free, simple doodles.
2. Play with Pen Pressure
In black pen art, how hard you press your pen changes the lines. Light strokes create delicate details, while heavier strokes make bold lines. Mixing both adds depth and movement to your mandala.
3. Divide Your page
Lightly divide your paper into sections before starting. Start your mandala drawing from the center and work outward. This helps your design stay balanced and symmetrical.
4. Add Personal touches
Include shapes or symbols that mean something to you — like a flower, moon, or an owl. Don’t copy others’ designs. Let your patterns grow naturally. Personal touches make your doodle art unique.
6. Don’t worry Mistake
Sometimes the best details come from small mistakes. Instead of erasing them, work them into your design. Uneven lines or “errors” make your mandalas more interesting and full of character.
7. add White Highlights
Use a white gel pen over black ink to create dots or lines. Highlights make your ink art pop and give your mandala a magical effect, especially in warm light
8. Draw to Music or Silence
Some people love drawing to music, others prefer quiet. Try both. You’ll notice your lines follow the rhythm around you. This is a fun way to connect with your creativity and enjoy ink therapy.
What This Journey Taught Me
Mandala art and doodle art isn’t just about patterns — it’s about self-discovery. Each design teaches patience, focus, and gratitude. Art is not only about what you create but also about how it makes you feel while creating it.
