Have you ever scrolled through social media and seen those trending “textured paintings” that everyone was making a while ago? Well, I made this DIY Textured Heart Painting with Tissue Paper quite some time ago — and I still love how it turned out!
That viral heart-style painting trend inspired this piece. I created it on a piece of cardboard, but honestly, if you have a small canvas, I’d totally recommend using that instead. A canvas gives the painting a stronger base and a neater finish. But don’t worry — if you don’t have one, cardboard works perfectly fine too!
Materials You’ll Need
- Cardboard or a small canvas
- Tissue paper
- Acrylic paints (reds, pinks, whites — or any colours you like!)
- Glue
- Paintbrush
How to Make a DIY Textured Heart Painting with Tissue Paper
Step 1: Sketch the Heart Design
Start by drawing the heart shapes on your cardboard or canvas. I drew several hearts inside each other it makes the layers look more interesting and gives that “concentric” heart effect. This will help you line and place the textured pieces later.
Step 2: Prepare the Tissue Paper
Next, take a tissue paper and cut it into small pieces. Now, dip these pieces into your chosen paint colors. (You can also color them later after pasting if that feels easier!)
Step 3: Add Texture
Once your tissue pieces are colored, mix in a bit of fabric glue (Fevicol) with them. Then, apply some glue on the first heart — I suggest starting from the inside, with the smallest heart shape (mine was white).
Gently place your colored tissue pieces over the glue. Repeat this step for each layer of heart, changing the colors as you move outward
Final Touch
You can highlight the edges with a bit of metallic paint (gold or silver) for extra shine, or even frame it for wall décor. It’s such an easy and relaxing DIY that also looks amazing as room décor or a handmade gift.
